500m of high-quality installation—delivered on time in Kent

A large-scale tile factory in Sittingbourne, Kent

Our recent project with Toureen Group—a large-scale tile factory in Sittingbourne, Kent—provided the perfect opportunity to showcase our expertise in siphonic drainage system design and installation for high-capacity industrial operations.

The challenge: Engineering high-efficiency siphonic drainage system

Large-scale industrial facilities, such as tile manufacturing plants, pose unique drainage challenges, particularly in managing high hydraulic loads. The project’s primary objective was to install a siphonic drainage system that could efficiently handle peak flow rates while ensuring full compliance with Building Regulations Part H, BS EN 12056-3:2000, and BS EN 8490:2007.

Key technical challenges included:

  • Hydraulic load calculation – Accurately estimating peak flow rates based on the factory’s location and expected rainfall intensity.
  • Optimised downpipe positioning – Precisely coordinating the termination points to connect seamlessly with the attenuation system.
  • Structural resilience – Using HDPE pipework to ensure long-term durability and resistance to environmental factors.
The solution: Precision installation for maximum performance

Led by Callum Paine, Joseph Laycock, and Martin Allen, our team successfully installed over 500 metres of bespoke drainage pipework, designed to meet the plant’s demanding operational requirements.

Key aspects of the installation:

  • Working at height – Our iPAF-trained team operated from MEWPs to install the system safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinating with other trades – Installation was carefully sequenced to align with other ongoing construction activities, ensuring seamless project progression.
The results: Exceeding performance benchmarks

The project was delivered ahead of schedule and within budget, with the drainage system surpassing key performance expectations:

Seamless collaboration with Toureen Group

As our first project with Toureen Group, this partnership demonstrated the effectiveness of a Design & Build delivery model. Continuous communication, coordination, and on-site execution ensured that the drainage installation integrated seamlessly with the broader construction schedule, minimising disruption to other trades.

The result? A high-capacity, industrial-grade siphonic drainage system built for efficiency, longevity, and operational excellence.
