Business Development Manager
We are currently recruiting an ambitious and experienced Business Development Manager to spearhead growth in the UK market. This is a pivotal role aimed at building out Capcon’s project backlog and positioning the UK business to reach parity with our well-established Irish operations within the next two years.
On top of a competitive base salary, the successful candidate can expect significant earning potential through a performance-based bonus scheme. You’ll be joining the business at a key stage of expansion, offering excellent career development and exposure to high-profile projects.
Capcon Engineering are rainwater drainage specialists, providing expert design consultation and sub- contractor services for clients, architects, engineers, mechanical and main contractors on large-scale new build and renovation construction projects. We operate across key sectors including data centres, pharmaceutical, commercial, residential, and industrial developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline, providing regular updates and forecasts to senior management.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (design, commercial, operations) to ensure smooth transition from sales to execution.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of the Business Development plans to ensure these reflect key priorities.
- To maintain and develop a wide network of contacts within the construction sector, building relationships to ensure Capcon is invited to as many tenders as possible.
- To develop a network of contacts within our target marketplace.
- To represent the Company at meetings as required and to secure new business and build intercompany networks.
- To ensure that all tender responses are innovative, accurate, compliant, timely and professionally presented.
- To ensure a robust selection process is applied to all opportunities, considering capability, references, margins, and competitiveness.
- To articulate the Capcon message and brand position through all sales processes, including presentations, sales pitches, attending industry events and panel discussions.
- To work alongside the marketing team to develop relevant marketing material and collateral aligned to the business development plan.
- To prepare and undertake a thorough hand-over to operational colleagues once each contract is secured.
- To assist with the collection, collation and recording of all statistical data for tender compilation, such as productivity ratings, margins and costs through relevant software platform.
- To keep abreast of the current market conditions and competitor activity.
- To follow up and provide feedback on sales leads and tender opportunities.
- To be up to date with all new industry innovations for inclusion in tender responses.
- To develop and maintain a wide network of internal and external colleagues to develop sales opportunities.
- To maintain and update CRM to ensure accurate sales reporting and forecasting.
- Scheduling and completing Site Inspection Reports and Risk Assessment Reports supporting the team in delivering key elements of the Regional Business Plan.
- Full, clean drivers license.
Qualifications and Experience
Essentials
- You will have at least 5 years business development experience within the Construction Industry.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge the norm and think outside the box.
- CRM proficiency (e.g., Zoho, Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of the UK construction market and procurement processes
- Proven leadership skills in line with our core values and organisational culture.
- A real drive and passion for continuous improvement and driving through change.
- Financial awareness and general business acumen.
- Excellent communication, literacy and IT skills.
- High level of organisational and time management skills.
- Flexibility and capability to adapt to a changing work environment.
- Memberships to networking forums.
